Season after Season, fashion designers indulge you in their guilty pleasures. On the catwalk erupts a burst of exciting colours and style, the creative curtains are peeled back and another spectacular season is showcased.
Each season I’ve put together a Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer segment of designer trends for fashionistas like myself to feast upon so we can become an active participant and not just a spectator in the fashion arena.
I’ve researched what’s trending in the world of fashion and compiled a Designers Fashion Trends page. I’ve selected designers’ latest creations from various fashion sources, inspired from the many genres, the roaring twenties to the space age influence of the 21st., crafted from an infinite range of fabrics like metallic, leather, luxurious brocades, lace, plaids, prints and so much more.
It takes many hours of research on what’s new and what’s hot on the runways and what the designers are strutting but it is a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy visiting my fashion page on designer trends as much as I enjoy putting it together.
“There is nothing new under the sun” seems to be the theme for 2018. This is apparent in designer trends for the Spring/Summer Collections as they journey back to the sixties when pop art culture, bright colours and abstract patterns were all the rage. This season the sixties are strolling hand in hand with the trends of the eighties, making 2018 an exciting year in FashionLand.
Dries Van Noten 2018
Reverse a decade or two and you will find the exaggerated shoulders of the eighties. The look could be masculine with the oversize jackets in plaids or pin stripes or more feminine dresses in softer fabric.
Valentino Resort 18
And carrying over from last season is mesh, fishnet any kind of net for that matter including tulle, worn with denim or leather biker jackets.
SHOW THOSE SHOULDERS & ROCK THEM SLEEVES
A favourite for the past few seasons are the exposed shoulders, bulky sleeves, frills and ruffles, perhaps because it balances the masculine broad shoulders with the femininity of ruffles and bare shoulders.
What’s new? Leather! – the designers gave it a delicious spin n shades of red and orange. Eye candy from from bright red, wine to pink and all shades of orange to burnt orange.
SO NICE! SILK!
So soft and feminine – In Banana pants, high waist, crop or cuffed and baggy at the waist either formal or casual.
A favourite are shorts – cuffed or plain – wear them any length you like – whatever is most flattering. From from mini to Bermuda shorts.
Versace Spring 2018
What has become a basic in fashion land are leggings, simply because they are versatile and can be worn with most everything, under skirts, under shorts, under slit maxis and they come in every colour. Designers have created the ultimate ensemble with matching leggings.
